the mountains, me, and you
If you're local to the Harlan County, Kentucky area then you might know exactly where this surprise proposal took place! Kingdom Come State Park has some truly magical views for those wanting a scenic backdrop showcasing the beautiful Appalachian mountains. The views will have you in awe any time of day, all year long. Though I live in NC now, I'm a KY girl at heart, so maybe I'm a little biased.
This day for Thomas and Abby was a chilly, WINDY, sunny day in March. We started out by taking a few pictures 'just for fun' since Abby didn't know what was coming later on.
Thomas and I agreed we'd circle back to our favorite location towards the end of the shoot, where he would pop the question. We'd brainstormed all the location options before, and seeing this view confirmed what we'd already decided before arriving.
To effectively throw off any suspicion, we took LOTS of pictures with no ring in sight. Abby was just going with the flow, under the impression this was just a chance to get some cute couples pictures.
Then, with some movie-scene precision, Thomas got down on one knee taking Abby totally by surprise.
After some jumping up and down on my part, we got some amazing photos, finally, WITH the ring. Capturing all the excitement and love, these photos are still some of my favorite to date!!
Whether you're wanting a secret proposal spot or some updated family photos, this mountain-top trail is everything you need!
